THE HIGHLANDER opens with a dramatic incantation in Scotts Gaelic, alluding to the of the attributes of a Highlander: Loyalty, Spirit, Pride, Knowledge, Wisdom, Truth seeking. The sound of the highland pipes call out an ancient tune, “The Battle of Stirling Bridge,” an old Piobracht (Piping) tune about the Scottish Army’s successful defense against the English. The word 'piobaireachd' literally means pipe playing or pipe music, but is now used to describe the classical music of the Great Highland Bagpipe.
Alba gu bràth! Spiorad gàidhealach, pròis, òr agus donn, eòlas, gliocas, fìrinn. Saorsa! Rach à mach! Saorsa! Rannsaich! Scotland forever! Highlander spirit, pride, gold and brown, knowledge, wisdom, truth. Freedom! Go forth! Freedom! Explore! |
