A rushlight is a type of candle formed from the dried pith of the rush plant, infused with oil or grease. Used in rural England to the end of the 19th century, rushlights were a source of artificial light for common people throughout the British Isles. RUSHLIGHT honors the legacy of Bloomfield Hills High School retired Directors Robert Ambrose and David Reed, and the thousands of students who were enlightened by their decades of inspired teaching. |
